The
attached photograph sent in by Denis Pickles (1945-50), shows the School XI of 1950.
The match would have been at Lawkholme, versus the 'Old Boys' whose team included such notables as Frank
Wellock and Duncan Townson, both playing cricket with Keighley cc. The School team was as follows:-
Back
Row(LtoR) Gordon Warin, Geoff Holroyd, Neil Caley, Jack Martin, Noel Petty and
David Seeley.
Front
Row(LtoR) Jack Binns, Gerry Greenwood, Eric Pickering, A.S. Birch, and Ian
Micklethwaite.
As you will note, there are only 10 players on the photograph but I am reliably informed by Gordon Warin that the missing boy was someone called 'Robinson'. Gordon still has a postcard photograph of the same picture on the back of which 'ASB' himself has written that Robinson arrived late on the day. I understand that he was one of the opening bowlers. For any of you who are at all interested, School lost the match and yours truly got hit for a couple of straight sixes over the Rugby stand by Duncan Townson!!
