Please find attached a
couple of photos from my school days at KBGS
The first is of form 3A
of 1961-62. I am afraid I remember only a few names. I will list from left to
right along the back using d/k for 'don't know'
d/k, d/k, Jim Sunderland,
Stuart Humphries, Peter Snow, d/k,d/k, Chris Simpson, d/k, Arnold Lambert, d/k,
Philip Borril?? Steve Chapman
Middle row: d/k, Brian
Horton, Ian Procter, d/k, Chris?? Eagles, Jeff Earnshaw, d/k, Peter Manning,
Andrew Procter, d/k, Stuart?? Gaines, David Baldwin, d/k
I can't remember the
names of any of the front row, including the master
The second photograph is
of the 'foragers' for the school camp at Kirkcudbright in 1964. The foragers
were a group of senior boys selected to travel to camp early to put up the tent,
dig the latrines and generally prepare. They then stayed behind to take
everything down at the end. We must have been there almost a month. Wearing
rugby jerseys was something of a tradition, and indeed most of us, that year at
least, were members of school teams.
The people are, back row
left to right: David Haigh, Jim Sunderland, Steven (Syd) Brown, Stuart
Humphries
Front row from left: Ian
Procter, Jeff Earnshaw, Arnold Lambert, Ian (Kaido) Nichol
The 'beshorted' figure
disappearing into the washing up area is Frank Wellock, one of the PE staff,
and quite recognisable on your photograph of 'Rugby XV late 1930s' - back row,
4th from left.
